LOVE FOR FOOD: The one thing I love about Bangaloreans!
Bangaloreans’ love for food quashes all discrimination. Bangalore is extremely liberal and variedly cosmopolitan when it comes to food. Eat Sake with a Shawarma; you won’t be judged. And Bangaloreans are a passionate lot when it comes to food.
Come Ramadan month and you will find people in throngs at the Iftar feasts that happen all over the city.
All of my years in Bangalore, I had gone to such Iftar street feasting. This year, fortunately, I was in Bangalore during this lovely time.
I absolutely love the chaos and madness of the streets. How an ordinary street (for the rest of the year) converts into a crazy food-street for the Ramadan month!
There are a lot of places you can go for such iftar feasting in Bangalore; this year, I went to the Koramangala street (in 2013, I had gone to the small J.P.Nagar one).
The camaraderie amongst the shop-keepers, the lure of food, the exhaustingly long list of delicacies that thoroughly confuses your mind, the huge clanking of the ladle on the tawa to get your attention, and the public bonded by their love for food.
If you are in town, you should definitely visit any of the Iftar hangouts. Believe me, it is something to witness and be a part of.
